Overview: Learn about the ecology of the rare iron fens of Peniston Park. The tour will include discussion of the unique botany, hydrology and chemistry of these unique plant assemblages. This program will also include a short hike on the Slumgullion Earthflow.
Itinerary:
8 am - Meet at the LFVC office)
8:30 am - Drive to Peniston Park on Highway 149, about 4.4 miles SE of Lake City. There is a road that ends at a picnic/parking area next to the highway (see map).
11:00 am - Return to vehicles at Peniston Park and return to Lake City
