The Lake City Alpine 50 is one of Colorado's most legendary mountain bike events — and the highest elevation one-day mountain bike race in the United States. This epic 50-mile endurance course launches from downtown Lake City and climbs over 6,000 feet, reaching a breathtaking 12,940 feet of alpine terrain. Riders pass alongside Lake San Cristobal, the second-largest natural lake in Colorado, formed by the ancient Slumgullion Slide — a rare natural earthflow that dammed the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River. It's a race that tests the body and rewards the spirit.
