Day 1
Overview:
ARTS & ATMOSPHERE
Friday, June 12th
The Arts Center & Town Park
5:00 - 7:00 PM – Guided Art Activity ($30 pp): Join local artist Maddie Bloomer for a creative painting session. Materials provided and no experience necessary! Registration will be available through Lake City Arts soon.
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM – Gallery Social and film screening: Enjoy current gallery exhibits, a cash bar, and light snacks available throughout the evening. Relax with star themed documentary films to kick off the weekend’s festivities.
8:00 - 9:00 PM – Evening Screening:
8:30 - 10:30 PM – Star Gazing: Head to the Town Park for a guided tour of the stars. Bring your own scope if you have it, a chair, and warm clothes.
Day 2
Overview:
SCIENCE & STARS
Saturday, June 13th
8:30 - 11:30 AM – Exploration & Discussion (The Mountaineer Theatre): Start the day with breakfast and a series of engaging talks from Colorado-based guest speakers covering a wide range of disciplines in the world of astronomy.
12:00 - 3:00 PM – Hands-on Discovery (Lake City Community School): Enjoy a journey through the universe with an immersive planetarium experience at the school gym. Participate in outdoor environmental science activities and training with telescopes. View the sun up close and personal with a solar scope.
4:00 PM – Afternoon Movie Screening (The Mountaineer Theatre): "Star Man"
8:00 PM – The Main Event (Slumgullion Pass): Join us for an unparalleled stargazing experience at one of the darkest sky destinations in the United States.

Red Lights Only: White light resets human night vision for 20 minutes. Please use red-light flashlights only.

Winter Gear in June: Temperatures at the Pass can drop into the 30s°F once the sun sets. Bring heavy coats, hats, and gloves.

Hydrate: High altitude is taxing; drink twice as much water as usual.

No Cell Service: You will lose signal as you climb toward Slumgullion Pass. Download your registration info in town before heading up!
